Playoffs Fast Approaching

By Marilyn Fahey

(WINDSOR, ON) – Here we are, already in the final phase of the season.  With the change in scheduling to allow all House League hockey to be completed before March Break, the playoffs will soon be upon us.  Although the scheduling is not complete at this time, we do know that there will be a 3-game, round robin, tournament style playoff weekend at the end of February.  Since Peewee Tier 2 has 6 teams in its division, they will have played 2 of their round robin games prior to this weekend.  Sunday, March 06 will be the Day of Champions for the top two teams in each division, after the semi-finals.  It should be noted at this time that there will not be a gate fee for the D of C this year.

The Annual House League Banquet for players, coaches and their families will be held on April 10 at the Fogolar Furlan Club.  The cost is $11.50 per person (including players) and tickets must be purchased at the Fogolar office.

Other notable dates are Monday April 11, the WMHA Annual Meeting at 6:30 PM at the Fogolar Furlan Club and Sunday June 05, our 2011-2012 hockey registration. For those interested in the Travel hockey tryouts, keep checking back to the website as that schedule will be posted closer to the end of the season.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the players, parents and volunteers who have helped move this season ahead in such a positive manner.  It couldn’t be done without everyone working together to make sure that every player gets an opportunity to get the most out of his/her season.  A special thanks to all of those who have been a part of House Minor for the last four years during which I have been the VP.  I have relied on you and you haven’t let me down – thank you.   This will be my last season in this position and you have allowed me to leave on a high note – the best of luck to you and continued success in Windsor Minor hockey.
