Clippers Sail Past Owen Sound

By Carl Humphrey

(WINDSOR, ON) – The Windsor Clippers hammered the visiting Owen Sound North Stars 20-6 Saturday night at Forest Glade Arena. The win improves the Clippers to 5-2 on the season.

The game was late starting as one of the officials was involved in a motor vehicle accident on the way to the rink, but the delay did not stop the Clippers from getting a fast start. Brendon Anger scored just eight seconds into the contest on a feed from Devin Humphrey, and the Clippers proceeded to score five straight goals in less than five minutes to open the game.

Brett Hickey, who is off to an incredible start, scored six goals and added two assists to lead the Clippers. Rookie Cameron Rogers scored twice and added six assists, Steve Hinek scored twice and added five assists, while Brendon Anger scored four goals and two helpers. Devin Humphrey added a pair of goals to go with three assists and all but three Clippers got on the score sheet.

Brendan Stevenson recorded the win in goal stopping 30 of 36 Owen Sound shots. The Clippers went 3 for 4 on the power play while Owen Sound was 0 for 7.

The Clippers next game is Thursday night when division rival Sarnia Pacers visit Forest Glade Arena. Game time is 8:00 pm
