Clippers’ 2011 Award Winners

(WINDSOR, ON) – The Windsor Clippers Lacrosse Club held their annual awards banquet last night and are pleased to announce the 2011 award winners.

  • Regular season MVP-Jeff Rivait
  • Leading Scorer- Brett Hickey
  • Best Offensive Player- Brett Hickey
  • Best Defensive Player- Adam Moore
  • Most Dedicated Player- Griffin Matte
  • Most Sportsmanlike Player- Trevor Learn
  • Most Improved Player- Gianni Martinello
  • Unsung Hero Award- Travis Boomer
  • Rookie of the Year- Gianni Martinello
  •  Playoff MVP- Jeff Rivait

The Clippers finished the regular season with a record of 11-9, winning the Far West division. The Clippers went on to defeat the Guelph Regals in the western conference quarter final and then lost to the Six Nations Rebels in the conference semi-finals. Six Nations went on to defeat the Elora Mohawks to win the western conference, and then defeated the eastern conference champion Halton Hills Bulldogs to take the Ontario crown. Six Nations is currently playing for the Founders Cup National Championship in Saskatoon, Sask.

The Clippers have graduated 12 players from the 2011 squad. Departing are John Nowicki, Chris Ziriada, Graham Adams, Devin Humphrey, Brett Hickey, Steve Hinek, Corey Burchell, Adam Moore, Justin Willson, Travis Boomer, Lucas Brouillard and Brendan Stevenson.

Brett Hickey departs with three team records. Hickey now leads all Clippers with games played at 148, 237 assists and career points at 418.

The departing players will leave a big gap for the Clippers to fill. The 12 graduates represent 1009 games played, 568 goals, 828 assists, 1396 points and 1338 PIM.
