Michigan State Ranked No. 1

(EAST LANSING, MI) – After winning the Big Ten Tournament title over No. 7 Ohio State, Michigan State has earned a No. 1 seed in the West Region in the NCAA Tournament. It marks the fifth time in program history the Spartans have earned a top seed (1990, 1999, 2000, 2001).

Michigan State will play in its 15th straight NCAA Tournament, which is the longest current streak among Big Ten schools and third longest in the nation (Kansas, 23; Duke, 17). It also marks the second-longest streak in Big Ten history (Indiana, 18 consecutive tournament between 1986-2003).

The Spartans will face No. 16 seed LIU Brooklyn (25-8) Friday in Columbus, Ohio. The Blackbirds defeated Robert Morris, 90-73, to win the Northeast Conference Tournament.

Memphis (26-8) earned a No. 8 seed in the West Region and will play No. 9 seed Saint Louis (25-7).

The West Regional will be played March 22-24 in U.S. Airways Arena in Phoenix, Ariz.
