Clippers Pull Off A Comeback

(OWEN SOUND, ON) – The Windsor Clippers made the long trek up to Owen Sound to take on the North Stars. The two teams traded goals back and forth in the first period with Owen Sound holding a 3-2 edge at the end of 20 minutes.

In the second period the Clippers jumped out to a 5-3 lead before getting into plenty of penalty trouble. The North Stars took full advantage scoring five power play goals and enjoyed a 11-5 lead going into the third period.

The never say die Clippers chipped away at the North Stars in the third period scoring six unanswered goals to force an overtime period. In the overtime period the Clippers found an extra gear as their conditioning regiment paid off in spades to score four more goals for a 10 goal run and take a 15-11 lead. Owen Sound replied with a goal with less than 3 minutes to play in the overtime period, but it was too little too late and the Clippers enjoyed a pleasant ride home.

Seven different Clippers scored a a pair of goals tonight. Jarred Riley, Kellen Leclair, Lucas Ducharme, Tyler McDowall, Brendon Anger and Trevor Learn while Jeff Rivait had a goal and four assists. Learn ended with 8 points and Ducharme had six. Mike Cameron recorded the win in goal for the Clippers.

The Clippers will travel to Sarnia on Wednesday night looking to avenge a loss to the Pacers last Wednesday at home. On Friday night the Clippers will host the Wallaceburg Red Devils and host Orangeville on Saturday night.
