(WATERLOO, ON) – For the first time this season, the Windsor Lancers women’s basketball team stands alone at the top of the OUA West division.
The defending national champions recorded a big 91-38 victory over the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday afternoon to move to 15-0 on the season.
Korissa Williams recorded a game-high 18 points, while adding four rebounds and six steals for the Lancers. Jessica Clemencon and Miah-Marie Langlois each picked up 15 points, and Windsor shot 47.8% from the field as a team throughout the contest. Mackenzie Lougheed led the Warriors with nine points and six rebounds in a losing cause, as Waterloo remained winless at 0-15.
Saturday also saw the Brock Badgers lose their first conference match of the season, as they were upset 63-38 by the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton and dropped to 14-1 in regular season play. This means the CIS No. 1 Lancers currently take over sole possession of top spot in the division, and are one of just two squads currently undefeated in the entire nation. The AUS leader Saint Mary’s currently hold a 12-0 record in conference play.
The Lancers will head to Western for a mid-week match against the Mustangs this coming Wednesday, January 30, and will host the Badgers at St Denis Centre next Saturday, February 2 in a battle of the division’s best.
