Moncton Derails Express

(WINDSOR, ON) – As part of Basketball Day in Windsor, the Express hosted the Moncton Miracles at the WFCU Centre on Saturday, 23 February. In a game where Windsor just couldn’t get on track, the Miracles prevailed 111-100. Windsor needed a win against one of the teams they are chasing for a playoff spot, but they just didn’t get it.

Moncton’s 6’ 10” centre, Isaac Butts dominated in the paint, leading all scorers with 23 points and 14 rebounds. The Express players assigned to cover Butts had some difficulty moving his 295 lb frame from under the basket, and the frustration could be seen on their faces.

Windsor did have some bright spots, however, as two players emerged with double-doubles.

Darren Duncan contributed 22 points and 13 assists. Although he made two steals, Duncan also turned over the ball on five occasions. Meanwhile, fan-favourite Kevin Loiselle chipped in 13 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

Other highlights for the home team were Chris Commons (21 points) and Mike Helms (14 points).

The Express has received considerable help from the bench during the recent five game winning streak, but against Moncton not much was on offer. While only seeing four minutes, Stefan Bonneau made use of his limited time with three assists and a steal. And Victor Morris was perfect from 3-pt range (2-2), plus dishing three assists.

With the loss Windsor is now 15-18 and 2 games out of the final playoff position with 7 games remaining.

Next up is the Express are at home to Montreal on the 27th. Game time is 7:00 pm. Tickets are available online or by call 519-800-3665. Get on board.
