(WINDSOR, ON) – The Windsor Clippers participated in the 6th Annual Six Nations spring showcase tournament this weekend. The coaching staff got a good look at a number of prospects vying for a position on the Clippers squad. The Clippers went 1-2 on the day.

Prospects  Austin Thompson and Andrew Garant each scored a pair of goals. Garant also chipped in with three assists. Other goal scorers were Matt Martinello (2) , Hunter Bushnell, Cody Holmes, Bryan Larocque, Kellen Leclair and Jarred Riley. Prospects Jacob Corra and Cooper Cecile shared the goaltending.

In the second game against Guelph the Clippers surrendered a goal with 31 ticks left on the clock to fall 6-5. Bryan Larocque paced the Clippers with three goals. Prospect Josh Jubenville and Kellen Leclair rounded out the Clippers scoring. Prospects Tim Garant and Jacob Corra shared the goaltending in this game.

In the third game the Clippers were clobbered by the Six Nations Rebels 13-3.  Clippers goals were scored by Bryan Larocque, Trevor Learn and Kellen Leclair. Tim Garant and Mike Cameron shared the goaltending in this game.

The Clippers released four runners and one goaltender at the completion of the tournament. With 19 players eligible to return from the 2012 squad, the battle to win a roster spot has been very good.

The Clippers next scheduled game is another pre-season tournament in Oakville on April 27th. The coaching staff expect to go into that tournament with the players they hope to open the season with on May 4th against the Guelph Regals. The Clippers are also looking to add an additional pre-season game at home the week of April 20th.
