Brawlers Spilt Bouts With Guelph

By Kim Reaume

(WINDSOR, ON) – On May the 4th, the force was with the Border City Brawlers’ two home teams – 519ers and Hiram Stalkers – as they took on teams from Guelph.

The 519ers beat Guelph’s Violet Uprising 238-134. The Hiram Stalkers fought hard but lost a tough battle to the Killer Queens 237-169. The scores broke a record for both Windsor teams in being the most points they have scored in a bout.

Fans got into the theme of the bout by donning their favourite Star Wars costumes. Along with prizes for the best outfits, free comic books were given out to the children. The Brawlers have also started group ticket sales and hosted their first birthday/derby party on Saturday.

MVPs went to best blockers Cheri Duguay (Foxy Peroxide of 519ers) and Kate Hargreaves (Pain Eyre of Hiram Stalkers). Best jammers went to Lindsey Tulk (Tulkamania of 519ers) and Natalee Spears (Holly Hox of Hiram Stalkers).

The next event for the Brawlers will be Saturday, May 18, when Tri-City’s Plan B (Kitchener) plays Windsor’s all-star travel team at Adie Knox Arena.

Doors Open at 6 p.m. and the game starts at 7 p.m. Bouts are family-friendly and wheelchair accessible. Kids 12 and under are free with paying adult. Tickets $10 in advance $12 at the door.
