Clippers Gird For Rubber Match

By Mike Soulliere

(WINDSOR, ON) – The Windsor Clippers opened the 2013 playoffs with a convincing 18-4 win over the London Blue Devils.

Logan Holmes paced the Clippers with one goal and seven assists. Lucas Ducharme scored four times and added two assists while Bryan Larocque lit the lamp three times for the Clippers. Brendon Anger and Jeff Rivait each scored twice while singles were scored by Jarred Riley, Gianni Martinello, Kellen Leclair, Ryan Marchand, Andrew Garant and Trevor Learn.

Cooper Cecile earned the win in goal for the Clippers stopping 42 of 46 shots.

The Clippers had an opportunity to close out the London Blue Devils on Sunday night, but failed to get the job done. The Blue Devils were a desperate team facing elimination and the Clippers could not match their intensity, could not score the timely goal, and could not come up with timely saves. That combination was a recipe for failure for the Windsor club.

Brendon Anger scored three times for the Clippers, while Ryan Marchand had a pair. Singles were scored by Jeff Rivait, Trevor Learn, Lucas Ducharme, Andrew Garant and Cam Rogers. Cooper Cecile started in goal for the Clippers and was replaced by Mike Cameron early in the second period. Each of them surrendered 7 goals.

The rubber match of the series will be played on Wednesday night at Forest Glade Arena. Game time is 8:00 pm.
