Windsor Soccer Hosts Homecoming

(WINDSOR, ON) – The Department of Athletics is preparing to host a number of events this coming weekend as part of the 2010 Alumni Weekend.
The featured part of the weekend will be the doubleheader soccer games on Saturday night, with the Lancers hosting the Waterloo Warriors at 6:00 & 8:15pm on Alumni Field.
Also included in the weekend’s festivities are the celebration of 50 years of Lancer women’s volleyball and the 25th Alumni Sports Hall of Fame Induction ceremony, which is set to take place on Sunday afternoon at the Ambassador Auditorium on campus.
Former greats that will be inducted into the hall of fame this year include Bob Navetta, Marty Kaye and Gary Howell.
On Saturday, the events kick-off with a soccer alumni game at 4:00pm on Alumni Field.
The Lancer women’s and men’s soccer teams will follow that up as they host Waterloo at 6 and 8:15 p.m.
The first 10 minor league soccer teams to show up in uniform will win one hour of practice on Alumni Field.
The women’s halftime will feature a minor league shootout while both Lancers teams will sign autographs between games.
A ceremonial kick-off and presentation featuring Lancer soccer alum Van Niforos will occur prior to the men’s game.
The highlight promotion of the night is the crossbar challenge taking place at the halftime of the men’s game with a grand prize of $500.
