Lancers Gut Gryphons

(WINDSOR, ON) – Possibly over-shadowed by the Clash at the Colesseum, the Windsor Lancers men’s basketball squad quietly continued their march to the Wilson Cup by defeating divisional rivals Guelph 83-67 at St Denis.

Windsor consistently out-scored the Gryphons in each quarter on the way to the win. Coach Oliver spread out the minutes amongst the players with the absence of Josh Collins for the third straight game. The Lancers got timely scoring as guard Mike Rocca stepped up to fill the void.

Rocca had been averaging just 2.6 points over the previous 12 games this season, but dropped 26 last night to lead all scorers. He also added a steal and six rebounds over 30 minutes for the Lancers.

Windsor received a typically high standard of play from Lien Phillip who scored 13 points and 14 rebounds for his 9th double-double this year. As well, Enrico Diloreto helped the Lancers to the win with four dishes and 17 points on offense and three defensive boards.

The Lancers’ next match is against Brock on Saturday, Breast Cancer Awareness Day, at St Denis. Tip-off is at 3:00 pm.
