An Invitation For Parents Of Autistic Children

By Steve and Cindy Machan

(WINDSOR, ON) – Our son Tavis is 4 years old, and is non-verbal on the severe end of the Autism Spectrum. We refused to allow Autism to destroy our dreams of having our child play hockey.

This year, Tavis played Tyke in the Windsor Minor Hockey Association. Watching him on the ice, among the other children, it was obvious that our dreams would have to change.

We have decided to attempt to create a calm, safe, non-judgemental hockey/skating league for any child with Autism. At this time we are looking to see how many families are interested in participating in this league.

We are going to rent the ice at no cost to you, to allow your child the chance to try this new experience. Your child does not have to know how to skate and, if you do not have skates or a helmet, we will try to find it for you.

Please send us an email if you are interested or have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you.
