(WINDSOR, ON) – Without doubt, at some point this coming weekend you will hear the sounds of screeching tires and revving motors. Right away you’ll realize that the Grand Prix has returned to Belle Isle, like the swallows to Capistrano.

Gear heads will be taking in the festivities of Grand Prix weekend as organizers have again stuffed as much on- and off-track into the three-day motoring festival. Not least of which is the second year of a dual duel as not one, but two INDYCAR points races will run, one each Saturday and Sunday with the green flags at 3:00 pm each day.

In addition to the main event, race fans will be able to take in the SPEED Super Truck Series, the Pirelli World Challenge, the Cadillac V-Series Challenge, and for the first time in Detroit the TUDOR United SportsCar Championships.

Away from the track, the Meijer Family Fun Zone returns to Belle Isle and there’ll be entertainment on the Motor City Casino main stage including rockers Lifehouse at 6:15 pm Saturday evening, and Shaggy at 12:30 pm on Sunday.

To get some insight into the track on Belle Isle, Steve Bell of rode along with INDYCAR driver Townsend Bell during a hot lap of the Grand Prix course in Detroit.
