By Mike Soulliere

(WINDSOR, ON) – The Windsor Clippers closed out the 2014 regular season by defeating the London Blue Devils 17-8 Sunday. The win improves the Clippers record to 17-3, a new franchise high mark. The old mark was 16-4, achieved last season.

Brendon Anger started the evening 12 points away from the top of the league scoring race, and had a monster game scoring 6 goals and adding 7 assists for 13 points, winning the scoring title. Anger finished the season with 57 goals and 54 assists for 111 points in 19 games. Trevor Learn and Jarred Riley each chipped in with 3 goals while Jacob Anger and Ryan Marchand  each scored a pair.  Hunter Bushnell scored one.

Zach Grace and Cooper Cecile shared the goaltending duties. Grace surrendered one goal in the middle period while Cecile gave up seven in the other two periods.

Three other Clippers also finished in the top 25 for the league. Ryan Marchand finished 11th with 38 goals and 52 assists for 90 points in 19 games. Trevor Learn finished 16th with 43 goals and 38 assists for 81 points in 19 games. And rounding out the top 25 was Jarred Riley who had 29 goals and 43 assists for 72 points.

The points could have been higher for all of the Clippers who missed out on a game defaulted by London on May 29.

The Clippers will face the Wallaceburg Red Devils in the first round of the playoffs. The series will be a best of five, but schedule has not yet been set.
