(LaSALLE, ON) – This past weekend was a big one in the LaSalle Vipers franchise history. Hunter Smith, who played the 2011-12 season with the Vipers, was drafted in the second round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, 54th overall, by the Calgary Flames.

In doing so, Smith became the first Vipers alumni to be drafted by an NHL team since the team’s relocation to LaSalle in 2008.

Other notable alumni include 1994 first overall pick Ed Jovanovski (Windsor Bulldogs 1992-1993) and long-time Maple Leafs fan favourite Tie Domi (Windsor Bulldogs 1986).

You can read more on Hunter’s big accomplishment at the LaSalle Vipers Website.
