(WINDSOR, ON) – The Brain Injury Association of Windsor-Essex is pleased to present the 4th Annual Use Your Head! Concussion Workshop geared to parents, coaches, trainers, referees, and educators. The event is scheduled to take place at the WFCU Centre in Windsor on Thursday, September 18, at 6:30 pm.
There has already been a great response from the local sports community.
The confirmed speakers include Ed Woelk (OMHA trainer), Sharon Seslija (Greater Essex County District School Board), and Dr Chris Abeare (University of Windsor neuropsychologist) who will provide a local perspective on concussion management.
Locally presenting the Concussion Workshop will not only educate area volunteers about potentially serious brain injuries, it will also raise awareness in the community. Sports enthusiasts will be trained on recognizing signs of concussions, managing a concussion, return to play recommendations, and reducing the risks of concussion.
Additionally, attendees will learn how to prevent further injury following a concussion and the correct use of protective equipment.
The Brain Injury Association’s mission is to enhance the lives of residents within Windsor and Essex County affected by acquired brain injury through education, awareness, and support.
