(WINDSOR, ON) – Abbotsford, BC – The University of Windsor men’s basketball team are on a western Canada road trip for the University of British Columbia Invitational Tournament. Last night in Abbotsford, the Lancers defeated the Fraser Valley Cascades by a score of 57-56 in a hard-fought defensive game.

Rotimi Osuntola lead the way with 16 points and 13 boards and Evan Matthews added 11 points. The Lancers won the game on a late putback by Brad Parker, with 9.2 seconds left to play.

“I missed a lot of shots today, we all did,” Parker told Cascades’ reporter Dan Kinvig. “But the thing about it is, we kept fighting and hung in there on defence. Defence is the key to why we won this game.”

The match-up was a preamble to the tournament that will see Windsor take on Thompson Rivers today at 1:00 pm, local time. Tomorrow at 3:00 pm, the Lancers will then tipoff against the host UBC Thunderbirds. Live game stats can be seen at the UBC link.
