(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair Saints broke in the new SportsPlex at the south campus last night in grand style. The women’s basketball team hosted the Lambton Lions and tipped off at 6:00 pm on their way to a 71-49 win to start the season.

The big player on the night was Tecumseh’s Meighen Boyd. The 5’ 9” guard dropped 18 points to lead the Saints. Boyd added 11 boards and dished off 8 times for the double-double.

Close behind was 1st year forward Lauren Pizzicaroli with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Also hitting double digits was St Joe’s Shannon Kennedy (15 points) and Torrie Handsor (11) from Wallaceburg.

In the men’s game, the Saints eked out a 2-point win over Lambton by a score of 80-78.

The Green and Gold were led by 5’ 10” guard from Detroit, Charles Baskin, who dropped 18 points on the night. Shavon Gale (Catholic Central) added 16 points and 9 rebounds for the Saints while Herman’s Trevelle Blythe put up 16 and Nick Campbell potted 10.

St Clare will next play at home on November 8 when they host Humber College.
