(WINDSOR, ON) – A heart-breaking loss on penalty kicks eliminated the Lancers from the soccer post season in OUA competition. With the full-time score tied 0-0 with Guelph, the teams exchanged overtime goals, the Gryphons waiting until the last minute to send the game to a shootout. It took six rounds before Guelph emerged with the 2-1 win, thus ending the Lancers’ playoff hopes.

Despite a free kick connection from 19 yards by captain Giulia Barile, the Lancers just couldn’t hold off the Gryphons who had been pressing Windsor for most of the game. In the 120th minute, Guelph’s Brianna Hall managed to get a foot on the ball during a goalmouth scramble to re-tie the game.

With the score deadlocked after five penalty kicks each, Danielle Canholto put the ball past Windsor’s Krystin Lawrence and the home side couldn’t return the favour.

In men’s soccer, the Lancers were again ousted from the playoffs, this time losing away to Western 1-0.
