(LaSALLE, ON) – The LaSalle Vipers defeated the London Nationals 3-1 Sunday afternoon at the Vollmer Centre. It was the team’s fourth straight win and eighth in their last nine games.
Nathan Savage opened the scoring at 7:34 of the first period, but Austin Kemp’s power play goal evened the game up through 20 minutes.
Savage’s second of the game, scored early in the middle frame, restored the Vipers lead and stood up as the game-winner. Brendan Harrogate, who assisted on both Savage goals, also found the back of the net.
“It seems like all four lines are rolling,” Savage said. “We’re getting healthy, and we’ve got four lines that can score, four lines that are hitting, and we’re doing everything possible (to win).”
Paolo Battisti was spectacular in net, surrendering just one goal and making several highlight reel quality saves, particularly in a third period when the Nationals were pressing hard to get back into the game.
With the win, the Vipers (21-16-0) go two points up on the Strathroy Rockets for fourth place, and pull to within two of the Chatham Maroons for third.
The Vipers next game is tomorrow night against the Rockets. The puck drops at 7:00 pm.
