(WINDSOR, ON) – Win some, lose some. That’s the way the Windsor Lancers’ weekend went as the men’s volleyball team split two matches against GTA teams at St Denis Fieldhouse.

On Friday evening, the Lancers lost in three straight sets to the Ryerson Rams in a close play. The visitors won 25-22, 25-23, and 25-23 to sweep the evening. Greg Simone led Windsor with 14 kills, 28 total attacks, and 6 digs, in the three sets. Meanwhile, Andrew Chelladurai and Jake MacNeil were tops with 7 digs each and MacNeil also added 9 kills from 19 total attacks.

On Saturday, Windsor played host to the Toronto Varsity Blues and walked away with their own 3-0 win. The Lancers scored 25-22, 25-21, and 25-16 for their 5th win against 9 loses this year.

Simone again led the way for Windsor with 14 kills and 27 total attacks, and Blase Wasser played point on defence with 7 digs.

The weekend split leaves Windsor in 8th spot in the OUA, 2 games behind Western and 1 game in front of Nipissing.

Windsor will play a pair of matches on the road this weekend. On Friday they will be in Waterloo to take on the Warriors while the following day play shifts to Guelph to meet the Gryphons. Windsor returns to St Denis on January 31 when the Royal Military College comes to town.
