Knox Ice Saved

By Dean Lapierre

(WINDSOR, ON) – Well people we did it.

Tonight, I was joined at City Council by fellow WMHA Board members Mario Pennesi, Mike Olar, Gena Grady, and Laura Laing, and by Scott Nicol from LMHA and Melissa Masse, a WMHA parent. We made our plea to keep Adie Knox open as an ice rink and it was passed by a 10-0 vote of Council.

I want to thank our Treasurer, Mario Pennesi, for all of his hard work when it comes to the numbers, and his work behind the scenes. I also want to thank all of the people who contacted their member of council and all of the support on social media.

A special thank you to the members of the media who came to our side on this story.

While this is great news, the real hard work starts now. We will meet with the City to do what we have to so we are not fighting for this again next year. But, if we have to, we will.

We want to work with the City and not against them.

In closing, remember that if you want something bad enough then fight for it.
