(DAYTONA, FL) – An upset Danica Patrick talks with Denny Hamlin about their late accident after the second Budweiser Duel.
Patrick was running eighth with just three laps remaining in the second of two Budweiser Duels in Daytona. She needed a top-15 finish in order to gain a spot in the starting grid for what would be her 3rd Daytona 500.
Tampa native Denny Hamlin had moved his No. 11 Toyota behind and to the left of Patrick’s No. 10 Chev in the back straightaway as they moved into the corner. Patrick’s car started to spin due to, in her estimation, contact by Hamlin’s vehicle.
Patrick’s car collided with Brian Scott and Bobby Labonte and ended up on the infield. After repairing the damage she restarted in 18th position and received a push from teammate Kurt Busch in order to finish in 10th.
