Mohawk To Face St Clair, Humber Winner

(WINDSOR, ON) – The Mohawk Mountaineers defeated the Fleming Knights 3-1 to kick off day 2 of the OCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship Saturday afternoon at the SportsPlex. The Mountaineers won the first two sets 25-20 and 25-15 then Fleming starved off elimination by wining the third set in extra points 34-32.

However, Mohawk bounced back and took the fourth set and the match 25-17. This loss eliminates Flemming from the tournament.

Fifth-year setter Mark Kaveckas was Mohawk’s player of the game with 6 digs, 2 stuffed blocks, and a service ace.

Second-year outside hitter Charlie Hancock added 15 kills, 13 digs, 2 aces and an assist in the Mohawk victory.

Fifth-year middle hitter Clay Couchman was Fleming’s player of the game, adding 2 stuffed blocks, 2 kills, and a dig in the loss.

Mohawk advances to the bronze medal qualifier against the loser of Saturday evening’s Humber and St. Clair game, on Sunday at 11:00 am.
