TWOS: Could NHL See 3-On-3?

(SPRINGFIELD, MA) – American Hockey League Rule 85.1 states that in the regular season, the sudden-death overtime period will be seven minutes long. Teams will change ends at the start of the OT period and skate 4-on-4 until the first whistle following three minutes of play, and then 3-on-3 for the duration of the period.

Through Sunday, March 15, 76.3 per cent of all AHL games that have gone to overtime this season have been decided in the extra session. Twenty-three point seven per cent have required a shootout.
