Spartans Knock Virginia For A Loop

(CHARLOTTE, NC) – For the second straight year, Michigan State knock the No. 2 seed Virginia Cavaliers out of the big dance by defeating them in Charlotte 60-54. Coach Izzo’s No. 7 Spartans led by 5 at the half and hung on to advance to the Sweet Sixteen

State guard Travis Trice led all scorers with 23 points and added two rebounds, three assists, and one steal. Forward Branden Dawson added 15 points for State, as well as nine boards and four blocks.

The Spartans will now face Oklahoma in Dayton on March 27.
