(SYRACUSE, NY) – Try as he might, Wayne Blackshear and his 28 points couldn’t get Louisville past the Michigan State Spartans March 29 in Syracuse, NY. The boys in green from East Lansing ousted the No. 4 seed Cardinals 76-70 to move into the Final Four for the 9th time and first time since 2010.

Three Spartans scored in the double digits including a team-high 17 points from guard Travis Trice. The six-foot senior out of Huber Heights in Ohio added 5 assists and 5 boards in the underdog victory.

Player of the Game Denzel Valentine (15) and Bryn Forbes (14) added another combined 29 points for State while Branden Dawson put on a defensive display with 11 rebounds and rejecting 4 of Louisville’s shots.

The Spartans will now travel to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN, to meet the Duke Blue Devils while Wisconsin has drawn heavily favoured Kentucky in the other semi-final.

Duke defeated State in their last meeting on November 18 last year, and they are the odds-on favourite to win on April 4.
