(WINDSOR, ON) – The Windsor Clippers improved their record with a pair of wins, including their sole home game so far this season, Saturday night. The Clippers ran the floor on the visiting Hamilton Bengals as they came from behind to win 8-7.
The Tabby’s staked out a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes but the Clippers replied in the second frame with Ryan Marchand and Tyler O’Brien each netting two goals and tying the game at 5.
Half way through the 3rd the game was knotted at 6 when Andrew Garant scored his second of the match, followed by a tally by Matt Martinello. Hamilton managed a goal with less than a minute to play, but couldn’t get any closer before the buzzer.
Jacob Corra stopped 31 shots for the win.
On Sunday, the Clippers found themselves on the road again, this time in London where they trounced the Blue Devils 20-6.
After a 2-2 1st period, Windsor went on the rampage with 11 goals in the first 16 minutes of the middle stanza, before London could reply with two of their own, including a power-play notch.
The Blue Devils were able to score two more at the beginning of the 3rd, but Windsor went to work shutting down the short London rally and closed out the match with six more goals.
Corra was called on to stop 26 of 32 shots between the pipes for Windsor. He is now a perfect 4-0 in his first season with the Clippers.
Windsor will now take their 5-0 record back to Forest Glade Arena as they get ready to meet the Wallaceburg Red Devils (1-2) this Thursday at 8:00 pm. This will be the second meeting of the season for these division rivals as Windsor dispatched them 17-8 on April 18.
