Clippers Improve To 6-0

(WINDSOR, ON) – The Windsor Clippers improved their perfect record to 7-0 with a 16-11 victory over Wallaceburg. But, their second win of the year against the Rd Devils wasn’t as easy as the score and the 62 shots on goal would indicate.

Wallaceburg opened the scoring less than three minutes into the first period before the Clippers took over, scoring four goals including two by Andrew Garant and two on the power play.

In the middle frame, Wallaceburg surprised Windsor by scoring four times before the five-minute mark. The Clippers regained their footing and finished out the period with eight goals and a 12-9 lead. Both Matt Martinello and Garant completed hat tricks in the flurry of goals.

The two teams settled down in the third in what was relatively a defensive battle. The Red Devils scored two to open the final stanza, but that was as close as they could get as the Clippers netted four more goals to close out the scoring.

Martinello finished the game with 5 goals and an assist while Garant scored 4 and assisted on 6 others.

Jacob Corra was between the pipes for the sixth time this season. He turned away 15 shots for the win.

Windsor will now host the Owen Sound North Stars tomorrow at 7:00 pm at Forest Glade Arena.
