(BRAMPTON, ON) – Tuesday evening, the Windsor Stars competed in their first League 1 Ontario cup match. They travelled to the GTA to face ProStars FC at Terry Fox Stadium in Brampton.

The two sides matched wits for much of the 1st half before Windsor’s Brett Holmberg broke the scoreless tie at the 40 minute mark.

The teams would play much of the 2nd half in tight quarters until the 70th minute when Gino Berardi was issued a caution. The ensuing kick resulted in a ProStars strike to even the score.

By full time, the sides were deadlocked at 1 apiece, leading to penalty kicks.

The ProStars earned 2 points after prevailing 4-2 during the shootout and Windsor took away 1 road point.

Windsor and ProStars, along with Toronto FC Academy, make up Pool D in the League Cup competition.
