Detroit Picks Up Free Agent Taylor Mays

(ALLEN PARK, MI) – The Detroit Lions have announced that they have signed free agent S Taylor Mays, however contract terms were not disclosed.

Mays is entering his sixth NFL season following previous stints with the San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals. Last season for the Bengals, Mays played in all 16 games, primarily as a special teams contributor, and finished with nine tackles, six of which came on special teams.

A second-round selection out of Southern California by the 49ers, in the 2010 NFL Draft, Mays has played in 66 career games, starting 10, and his career totals include 72 total tackles, one sack, six pass defences, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.

In two playoff games with the Bengals he recorded two special teams tackles.
