Kingsville Picks Up Czech Pair

(KINGSVILLE, ON) – The Kingsville Kings Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club, one of the newest members of the Greater Metro Hockey League have announced two signings for the upcoming 2015-16 season.

Marcel Kottek played defense last season in the Czech Republic’s highest junior level for Slavia Praha, also represented the republic, skating with the U19 Czech national team. Joining Kottek, will be defenseman and team mate from Slavia Praha, Lukas Havelka.

“Marcel is the complete player, in terms of skill, size, speed, and hockey smarts for his age,” said Gary Astolas, Kingsville Kings head coach. “His work ethic is second to none. He will be a big part of our success this season.”

Astolas is big on the signing of Havelka as well.

“Lukas is a big bodied defenseman, who will step in and compete for big minutes,” Astolas said. “Lukas will help out on our back end, while contributing to scoring chances up front.”

The season begins on September 8 with Kingsville heading to Brantford to meet Steelfighters at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre. The Kings home opener is three days later at Kingsville Arena against the Toronto Ice Jets. Game time is 8:00 pm.
