(WINDSOR, ON) – As part of their tune-up for the 2015-16 season, the Lancers women’s hockey team hit the ice at South Windsor Arena on Saturday and welcomed the Ottawa Gee Gees to Windsor. The Blue and Gold looked loose and skated effortlessly as they sent Ottawa packing by a score of 4-2.

Leading the Lancers were newcomers Shawna Lesperance, Sydney Dobbin, Meredith Goldhawk, Davis Smith, Hillary Hettwer, and Reagan Kaufman. All were new signings by head coach Jim Hunter over the summer months.

Lesperance is a native of Emeryville who skated as a forward the last two season with the Maine Black Bears in the NCAA. Also coming over from the NCAA is Dobbin, a defenseman out of London, who last laced up for Adrian College, in Michigan, and the Bluewater Hawks of the Provincial Women’s Hockey League before that.

The final four players all come to Windsor from the PWHL. Goldhawk, 9 goals 6 assists in 32 games, and Smith (6-4-38) both last played for the Bluewater Hawks while Hettwer (2-5-32) was with the Brampton Canadettes, and Kaufman (11-7-38) the Barrie Sharks.
