By Jay Shewfelt

(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair men’s soccer program continued their strong play by defeating the Redeemer University Royals 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Main Campus Field, on a very cold and windy day.

Jordan Lidia got the Saints on the board with a nice goal in the 33rd minute. St Clair then had a few more great chances during the rest of the half, but failed to capitalize. The team went to the dressing room up 1-0.

Lidia scored his OCAA league leading 13th goal in 9 games to put the Saints up 2-0, just two minutes into the second half.

Justin Danelon was solid in goal making some tough saves late to earn the shutout and win.

The Saints are now 6-2-1 on the season and are locked into second place in the OCAA West Division. St Clair will host a cross-over playoff match on Saturday, October 24 against the 4th place team from the East Division.

St Clair is currently ranked 4th in Ontario and will host the first place Fanshawe Falcons this afternoon at 4:30 pm, at the Main Campus Field. The Falcons are ranked 2nd in Ontario and 7th in Canada.

In their previous meeting, Fanshawe defeated St Clair by a score of 3-2, in London, on October 7.
