(GUELPH, ON) – The Windsor Lancers dropped to 1-6 on the season after a road loss to the Guelph Gryphons by a score of 41-27.

Windsor jumped into the lead when Tarrence Crawford rumbled down field, on the first play from scrimmage, for 92. Crawford then capped the Lancers possession with a 1-yard run for a major, after just 1:06 of play in the 1st Quarter.

The Gryphons then replied with 4 touchdowns and 2 field goals before Windsor could manage another break-out scoring drive. With 57 seconds left to play in the half, Crawford took the ball for a 13-yard run to the Windsor 52 for a first down.

After an incomplete pass and then an 8-yard run by QB Casey Wright, Jaydon Gauthier rushed for 50 yards for Windsor’s second touchdown of the game. At half time, the Lancers trailed the Gryphons 34-14.

A 3rd Quarter TD by Crawford and two 4th Quarter field goals, both from outside of 30 yards, by Anthony Malandruccol brought the Lancers to within 7 of Guelph with just under 5 minutes left to play. However, the Gryphons put the game out of reach with a late TD to quell the Windsor comeback.

In the final game of the season, Windsor will host the Waterloo Warriors (0-7) on Saturday as part of the OUA Tackles Breast Cancer initiative. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game in support of the cause. Kick-off will be at 1:00 pm.
