Lady Saints Edged Off The Podium

(SAULT STE MARIE, ON) – The St Clair women’s X-Country team narrowly missed a podium finish at the OCAA Provincial Championship in Sault St Marie, Saturday, that was hosted by Sault College. Tied for 3rd Place the Saints lost a tie-breaker and fell to the 4th spot, but will still compete at the CCAA National Championship being run at St Lawrence College, in Brockville on November 14.

Second-year runner Natalie Omahen also just missed the podium with a 4th place finish in a time of 21:16, over the 5km course at Crimson Ridge Golf Club, in a field of 88 runners.

Ashley Bracci had her finest performance of the season with a 14th place finish in a time of 22:09.

Omahen was named an OCAA 1st Team All-Star while Bracci was named to the 2nd team.

Beth Horrobin, 30th 23:49, Tori Horrobin, 33rd, 23:56, Sara Duic, 50th, 25:07, and Meghan Howell, 53rd, 25:18, rounded out the other Lady Saints finishers.

The St Clair men’s team were led by Justin Folkeringa who finished 43rd in a time of 31:16, over the 8km course, in a field of 100 runners.

Joaquim Lourenco finished right behind him in 44th in a time of 31:17.

Dante Lapico, 65th, 32:49, Joseph Gignac, 87th, 36:31, Tyler Snyder, 91st, 37:13, and Walter Papak, 94th, 40:00 were the remaining finishers for the Saints’ men, who finished in 14th spot as a group.
