Mohawk Proves Tough Opponent

(HAMILTON, ON) – The St Clair men’s volleyball team travelled to Hamilton on Saturday to take on the Mohawk Mountaineers. The rookie-laden Saints squad struggled but lost to the Mountaineers by a score of 3-0.

Game scores for Mohawk were 25-20, 25-14, and 25-19.

Middle Justin Fisher had a solid game with 3 kills on 3 attempts, 1 service ace, 3 stuffed blocks, and 1 dig.

With the loss, St Clair fell to 0-4 on the season while Mohawk improved to 4-0. Mohawk is currently ranked 2nd in the OCAA and 6th in Canada.

The women’s team also took on Mohawk on Saturday. The Saints came away with a solid win, defeating the Mountaineers by a score of 3-0.

Game scores for St Clair were 25-18, 26-24, and 25-16.

Kaila Crough had a great match with 9 kills in 14 attempts, along with a stuffed block. Helen Wiebe also had a solid game with 6 kills, 2 service aces, 3 stuffed blocks, and 14 digs.

With the win, St Clair improves to 2-2 while Mohawk fell to 2-2. St Clair is currently ranked 8th in the OCAA.

The women are next in action when they host Cambrian on Saturday at the Sportsplex at 1:00 pm. The men get going at 3:00 pm.
