Lancers Earn First Win

(WINDSOR, ON) – The Windsor Lancers salvaged the weekend and registered their first win of the season by splitting a home series against Queen’s and Royal Military College. After dropping Saturday’s meeting to the Gaels 3-1, the Lancers rebounded against RMC 3-0.

Windsor fell in the first two sets by identical scores of 25-21 to Queen’s, but rallied to win the 3rd 27-25. The Lancers couldn’t sustain the effort losing the 4th match, and the series, again by 25-21.

On Sunday, Windsor made it a quick afternoon’s work by taking three straight from the Paladins 25-20, 25-18, and 25-18.

Shawn Reaume and Brad Gyemi both contributed 9 kills in the win for Windsor while Blase Wasser and Josh Edwards served up 2 aces each, while Wasser added 31 assists. Defensively, the Lancers were led by Andre Khayat with 15 digs and 10 from Wasser.

The Lancers will now travel up the 401 to meet the Waterloo Warriors this Friday followed by a match against McMaster on Saturday. They’ll close out 2015 on November 27 and 28 with tilts back at home as Toronto and Western come to town. The first serve is set for 7:00 pm.
