(WINDSOR, ON) – The Windsor Express have announced their 2015 training camp roster. The roster includes five Canadians and nine former NCAA Division I athletes. The club is also pleased to invite three former University of Windsor players into camp.
Hot on the heels of a pre-season 108-82 win over the Lima Express, Windsor’s interim head coach, Tony Jones, said he is ready to begin his first training camp as a head coach in the National Basketball League of Canada.
“I’m excited about the players that the organization have brought in to vie for a roster spot on this year’s team,” Jones said. “I believe it will be a very competitive training camp with guys competing feverishly for a permanent spot on the roster. I’m looking forward to working with some quality young men who all have impressive resumes and will help us compete for another championship.”
Players arrived in Windsor on December 9 for orientation and camp began the next day at the John Atkinson Memorial Community Centre. The seventeen-man squad will be trimmed down to twelve before heading into the home opener on December 26 vs the Orangeville A’s.
Newcomer Maurice Bolden scored a game-high 23 points against Lima, yesterday evening at the St Clair SportsPlex, as Windsor dressed 15 players for the exhibition. The home side jumped out to a 37-18 1st quarter lead and led by as much as 35 in the 3rd quarter.
