(DETROIT, MI) – The last time the Central Michigan Chippewas played at Ford Field a field goal spelled the margin of victory over Western Kentucky in the 2012 Little Caesars Bowl. This time around, the Chippewas (7-5) will be facing the Big10’s Minnesota Golden Gophers (5-7) today at 5:00 pm.
CMU qualified for the bowl game by winning five of its last six games while the Gophers are one of three sub .500 teams to get the nod this year.
CMU QB Cooper Rush will lead his team as the underdogs by 4 1/2 points. Despite Minnesota’s losing record, they are considered the favourite heading into today’s game. Rush will put his 67.2 per cent pass completion record up against the Gophers defense, as he seeks out his usual targets, Jesse Kroll and Anthony Rice.
Minnesota junior QB Mitch Leidner will rely less on his arm as he directs the Minnesota offence. Look for Shannon Brooks and Rodney Smith to pound it out on the ground from the Gophers backfield. DB Kavon Frazier is looking to add to his CMU leading tackles.
Don’t miss out on what should proved to be a very entertaining match-up. Square Sports will have the recap and photos from field level tomorrow.
