Saints Close In On Playoffs

(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair women’s volleyball team won two matches over the weekend at the Sportsplex, and with the wins, the team inches closer to the OCAA playoffs.

On Friday, the Saints dispatched Mohawk 3-0. St Clair was led by Shalena Horst with 11 kills, 6 services aces, 1 stuff block, and 9 digs.

Sara Yablonsky also had a marquee match with 8 kills, 1 stuff block, and 5 digs.

The Saints then hosted Conestoga on Sunday. They won their 9th match of the season by dropping the Condors 3-0.

The all-round team effort saw Helen Wiebe with 15 kills, 1 stuff block, and 13 digs, while Horst had a second straight solid match with 8 kills, 2 service aces, 1 stuff block, and 14 digs.

The women improved to 9-6 on the season while Conestoga fell to 1-13. The Saints are now tied for 3rd in the OCAA West and are ranked 9th in Ontario.

The win brings St Clair within one win of clinching a playoff spot with three matches remaining.

The Saints return to action when Fanshawe arrives in town Tuesday for a 6:00pm start at the Sportsplex. This will be the Saints’ final regular season home game.
