(WINDSOR, ON) – The Saints men’s volleyball team split a pair of matches over the weekend, but the playoff picture continued to fade.

On Friday evening, St Clair hosted Mohawk at the Sportsplex. The Mountaineers beat up on an already battered Saints side, defeating the home team 3-0.

Jared Niziolek led the Saints with 5 kills, 1 service ace, 1 stuff block, and 3 digs.

St Clair rebounded on Sunday when they dropped the Conestoga Condors 3-0. The victory featured a come from behind win in the third set as the scrappy Saints were down 23-20, but pulled it out.

It was Justin Fisher’s time to shine with 11 kills, 1 stuff block, and 4 digs. Michael Knight also showed some solid play by registering 8 kills, 4 service aces, 1 stuff block, and 8 digs.

The weekend split improved the men’s record to 4-11 on the season. They are now 7th in the OCAA West with three games remaining to be played.

The Saints are next in action when they host Fanshawe Tuesday evening, before finishing the year on the road for two matches.
