Podium Finishes For Saints Soccer

(ANCASTER, ON) – The St Clair women’s and men’s indoor varsity soccer teams had a successful tournament, this past Saturday, at the Sheridan College Invitational, hosted by Redeemer University College in Ancaster.

The men ended up winning the gold medal by defeating the Sheridan Bruins 1-0 in extra time. The Saints had beaten George Brown 2-0 in the semi final earlier to earn their way into the gold medal game.

In round robin play, St Clair went 3-0 to finish first in their pool by defeating University of Toronto-Mississauga 1-0 , Fanshawe 5-0, and Centennial 1-0.

The women earned the silver medal after falling to the Sheridan Bruins by a score 2-1 in the championship game.

The Saints defeated George Brown 2-0 in the semi final for entry into the championship game.

In round robin play, St Clair went 2-0-1 to finish first in their pool by drawing with University of Toronto-Mississauga 1-1, and defeating Fanshawe 2-1 and Centennial 1-0.

Both of the Saints teams will next be in action when they travel to Toronto to compete in the OCAA Regional Championships on Monday, February 29, at the Ontario Soccer Centre. Each team must finish in the top two in their pool to advance to the OCAA Championships at Redeemer University from March 18 through 19.
