Lancers Sink Voyageurs

(WINDSOR, ON) – After sweeping Lakehead and Algoma over the weekend, the Windsor Lancers secured 1st place in the OUA West and were scheduled to host the Laurentian Voyageurs in the first round of the playoffs. Wednesday evening the Boatmen arrived in town as fodder for a hungry Lancers squad. At the end of 40 minutes Windsor had eliminated Laurentian with an 82-73 win.


Windsor’s leader Alex Campbell scored a game-high 37 points and pulled down 10 boards as the Lancers defeated the Laurentian Voyageurs 82-73 in OUA semi-final play.

Graduating senior Alex Campbell continued in his leadership role by putting up 37 points as a one-man demolition squad. He also took away a double-double by clearing 10 boards and added 4 steals and a block. Campbell accounted for 13 of the Lancers first 18 points in the 1st quarter.

Rookie Isiah Osborne registered 18 points and was 6-for-7 from the penalty stripe. He and Campbell were joined in the double digits by Tyler Persaud, who put up 12 points while hitting 2-of3 from downtown.

Windsor forced 15 turnovers and scored a resulting 18 points; twice as many as the Voyageurs. The Blue and Gold also picked Laurentian’s pockets 11 times with Campbell and Mike Rocca owning 7 of them.

The difference in the game was Windsor hitting 90% from the free throw line. At 19-for 21 they scored 5 more points than the 70% visitors which provided for the majority of the margin of victory.

The Lancers will now face the No. 5 McMaster Marauders in Hamilton this Saturday. Tip-off at Burridge Gym is scheduled for 2:00pm.
