(ALLEN PARK, MI) – Ahead of announcing the pre-season schedule, the Detroit Lions have signed four more players to the roster.
Cornerback Darrin Walls has joined the Lions after spending the last three seasons with the New York Jets. The six-year veteran originally signed with Atlanta out of Note Dame in 2011. Last year he played in 13 games and collected ten total tackles.
Also joining Detroit is tight-end Matthew Mulligan, who played in Buffalo last year where he picked up one reception. Mulligan first entered the league with the Miami Dolphins in 2008 after joining the team as an undrafted free agent out of Maine.
As well, Wallace Gilberry has been announced by the Lions as a 10th season defensive end from Alabama. Gilberry’s first season year was with the New York Giants in 2008 and then quickly moved to Atlanta before heading to Kansas City. He then played in Tampa Bay in 2012 prior to landing with the Bengals for the past three years.
Gilberry played in all 16 games for Cincinnati in 2015 compiling 23 tackles and two sacks.
Running back Stevan Ridley is the fourth addition to Detroit’s roster. The 6th-year veteran out of LSU began his career with the Patriots and joins the Lions after playing a half season with the Jets last year, when an injury sidelined him for the first eight games.
Detroit will play four pre-season games starting the week of August 11 in Pittsburgh. Week 2 opponents will be Cincinnati at Ford Field followed by a trip to Baltimore. They’ll round out the series when Buffalo comes to town September 1.
In addition to playing Chicago, Green Bay and Minnesota at home and on the road, the Lions will host Jacksonville, Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia, Tennessee, and Washington while visiting Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, New Orleans, and the Giants.
