Saints Awards Night Honours Top Athletes

(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair Saints announced their annual athletic awards to a packed room last night at the St Clair Centre for the Arts.

Taking top honours for the Mason MacDonald Graduating Student-Athletes of the Year were Skyler Patteson, from women’s softball, and Jordan Lidia, of men’s soccer.

St Clair’s women’s softball team capped a 19-5 season with their first ever National Championship in October. Patteson batted .513 with 1 HR and 25 RBI in 76 at bats over 22 games.

Men’s soccer finished with a 7-2-1 record and was ranked 4th in Ontario. Lidia scored 12 goals in 8 games for the Saints.

The winners of the Al Hoffman Award for Athletes of the Year were Shane Courtney, of men’s baseball, and Emily Ditty, from women’s soccer.

The women’s soccer club completed a 9-1 regular season finish with a 4-game run into the OCAA playoffs. The side captured the Ontario bronze medal with a 4-0 win over Fleming. Over 10 regular season games Ditty, a back, scored 2 goals and acted as a wall on defense and contributing to a team 0.9 goals against per game.

Ditty was also earlier this year female Soccer Player of the Year at the WESPY Awards.

Courtney pitched 37.1 innings over 9 games for the men’s baseball team, with a 6-0 record and 39 strikeouts and a 1.31 ERA. His pitching helped the Saints to a 20-0 finish and a 3rd straight OCAA Provincial Championship.
