(WINDSOR, ON) – The University of Windsor’s Department of Athletics has announced the hiring of Paul Scott as the new head coach of the Lancer Fastpitch club program. Scott takes over from long-time coach Monique Beneteau, who stepped down after the 2015-16 season.
“We are excited to have Paul on board to lead our Lancer women’s fastpitch program forward,” said director of athletics Mike Havey. “Paul has a long history of involvement with women’s fastpitch in our community and as an NCCP certified coach and learning facilitator, his passion and experience make him a great fit for this position.”
Well known throughout the Windsor-Essex fastball community, Scott has managed and been head coach in the LaSalle Athletics Fastball system for the past 10 years and is currently the head coach/manager of the LaSalle Athletics 2002 Gold travel team.
While with LaSalle Athletics, Scott has led his teams to great success at both the provincial and national levels, as well as internationally. He is also currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Turtle Club Board of Directors.
“I am proud to continue to build upon the tradition of the Windsor Lancers fastpitch program,” said Scott. “I look forward to working with these talented student-athletes and maintaining the high standard of conduct and performance that is expected by the University.”
In addition to coaching with LaSalle, Scott is also a coach with the EJ Lajeunesse High School girls softball team, which finished fourth overall in conference standings this past season.
Personally, Scott is employed by the Ontario Provincial Police where he is currently a detective sergeant.
Coach Scott and the Lancers will be announcing more information about the upcoming women’s fastpitch season and team try-out dates in the coming weeks.
