(WINDSOR, ON) – The National Basketball League has announced an addition to the league for the 2016-17 season. Bolstering the Central division will be a new franchise operating in Kitchener-Waterloo.

Making the announcement today at the KW YMCA, the new team, yet to be named, will join franchises in Windsor, St Catharines, London, and Orangeville, in addition to the five Atlantic teams. In November last year the league announced that the Cape Breton Highlanders would be joining play starting in the 2016-17 season.

The Kitchener team plans to hold a naming contest where the winner will receive a pair of season tickets.

With the addition of KW and Cape Brenton, it brings the NBLC franchise total to 10 teams for the league’s 6th year of play.
