The Windsor Spitfires begin the season at home, hosting the Erie Otters at the WFCU Centre on September 22. For the first 20 games, Windsor will play a total of 13 at home leading into an extended 13-game road trip over the course of a month, between November 20 and December 29.
The nomad-like existence is due to the occupation of the main bowl of the arena by the 2016 FINA short swim meet, which will displace the Spitfires as well as Windsor Express basketball, and the various recreational hockey leagues and community centre users.
FINA will be ensconced at the WFCU Centre for 5 days from December 6 to 11, but will need 16 days to set up followed by 18 days to vacate the premises.
The Spitfires will return home December 29 versus Kitchener followed by a December 31 tilt against Flint to close out the calendar year.
In 2017, Windsor will return to play on January 3 when they host the 2015-16 Memorial Cup winning London Knights. The Spitfires finish the regular season in Saginaw on March 18.
